The production guys from The Biggest Loser were in need
of a menu board for one of their shoots a few weeks ago. We were
able to accommodate them at the last minute with vinyl cut lettering which they applied to a pre-made blackboard that they had. My kids were stoked to see it up in lights last night. We're famous!... I think ?

If you think event signage is last minute..then try advertising pitches. This one came with a familiar tone...hey mate, we're pitching on some work for Qantas and wondered if you're interested in doing the signage?

That's all fine, but the bit that doesn't translate in the intro is...you'll have bugger all time & the artwork files will be there at some stage, and will need work.

From there on it's all systems go. Tune the files, rip & print at warp speed, traverse the city and enter the paranormal world of The Ad Agency.

Installing the signage is everyday stuff, but watching the mechanics of the agency go into pre-pitch mode is a blast. You've got guys strutting up and down the corridor, cradling their I-Baby and rehearsing their spiel. Tech guys are wiring the presentation screens & every second person is pushing on the blue tack that's holding up their piece of the presentation on the wall. Amidst this we manage to get our job done, just as one of the foamcore presentation posters on the wall comes unstuck & slides to the floor, denting the corner. A guy behind us says " shit, why did that happen ", I reply it's the teflon in the paint mate, you know, the wash n' wear stuff. Then there was a succession of imitations, shit, what happened and the first guy answered to the second guy, it's the teflon mate ? What??...buy the time the third guy piped up, we were out of there..job done.

Mauricio has shown creativity by showcasing his surfboards in the window of his shopfront and rotating them on a daily basis. He's doing what Stewart Brown Signs have been advocating for years. Use your creativity, showcase your product and change or rotate it on a regular basis. You win on so many levels. Prospective customers are attracted to your business and start to look for "what's next". You've created a unique selling point for your product which adds value. And by being consistent with your rotation of advertising you keep people interested and show that you're a professional business.

Put your thinking caps on guys, brainstorm ideas and be consistent in your roll-out...and guess what ? It costs very little to do, if anything.

Now they have partnered to provide a performance guarantee to their customers. What does this mean ? In short, if Avery signage products are use in conjunction with Roland inks & printers then the products are guaranteed upto 7 years. Stewart Brown Signs have been using both Roland printers & Avery products for over 10 years knowing that the research & funding that goes into these companies is directly channeled to the end used, meaning nothing short of exceptional results.

See what our production manager has to say ....

How we make sure our customers get the best signage solutions.

Every other print media product we have tried ‘talks the talk’ or at least the reps trying to get through our front door do.Admittedly, in this competitive market place its usually material costs that have previously forced us to sometimes take a look at other products making similar claims.A couple of counterproductive experiences of trying alternate products, has insured our continued use of the complete range of Avery print media and overlaminates. As pleasant as we try to be to new sales reps it would take something out of left field to move away from using the Avery media in conjunction with our Roland printer. As far as Roland printers are concerned they also remain the industry standard.I’m sure other companies are going for lesser alternatives.Roland is the leader so trying to get cheaper printers on the market can only mean one thing - inferior quality end results. Most files generated in design based programs can usually be printed direct without any adjustment. Our expertise and Roland’s own colour matching system allow us to troubleshoot and colour match when specific projects require.

What does this mean for our customers? It means that we can deliver their signage confident it not only looks good but will stand the test of time and conditions. And we only hear from our clients that they love their signage or when their next signage requirement comes on the radar.

The sign which was 2400 h x 500mm w needed to look like cast steel with inlaid letters but be built using light weight matierials. We used 6mm thick acrylic, lasercut the letters out and re inset a new set of matt white letters into the cavity, with a precision tolerance. The sign really did look the part, every bit the cast steel appearance that the client wanted. See what our client says.
Well, I'm pleased to say that we have been busy turning our plenty of signs for tradesman over May and june, with July shaping up to be the same. I figure there's two reasons that trigger why tradies order their signage when they do. One, they have been thinking about it for sometime and have been waiting for a high profile job to come along where they can ramp up their presence and get all of their mandatory signage in order. The other, which I find inspiring is that more & more tradies seem to be planning ahead and looking at the highs and lows in the yearly cycle for their particular business and ordering brochures, banners and business cards ahead of time so that they can fill those quieter times of the year with work. For example, Richard from Harbour View Gardens came to see us in April explaining that his landscaping business has a quite period typically over winter as the growing season becomes dormant and people pay less attention to their gardens. Richard took a proactive stance and decided to get his marketing into gear, with a new logo, business cards, brochures and ute signs. He's planting the seeds right now so that when his customers are starting to think about their gardens again Harbour view Gardens is front of mind.
